Since the GATOR BASE panels have a high thermal resistance (it would take nearly 15.7″ (40 cm) of 0-3/4″ (0-20 cm) dry stone, compacted to a porosity of 20% to equal the insulation provided by a single layer of GATOR BASE panels).

The traditional method for paver install consists of removing 9”-11” of native soil, then compacting the soil for a suitable solid base. Using layers of 3”-4” of Granular A or 3/4 clear, the base is compacted. We use clear Premium Bedding stone without fines to create a stable base.

We build your walls with minimum 6” in front of base and 12” behind with 4” weeping tiles. Integrating geo-grid fabric completes a solid non-shifting wall.

Any walls, steps or freestanding walls under 18” are perfect for Gator Base. If higher we utilize the traditional compacted base method.

Sanding and Compacting
Using an altimeter level we get exact depth of rise (B) and overall run (D) needed and build in layers to the house. We can use large one piece slabs or build with pavers and manufactured steps.

Very important to the success of the install is the polymeric sand used. We use G2 Maxx from Alliance. Utilizing a vibratory compactor that ensures full penetration and a solid interlocked patio or walkway.
